Hello! On this occasion, I am delighted to share this blog with you where you will learn more about using technology to offer everyday tasks with a story about the origin and evolution of an innovative way to provide service.

In this episode, learn more about the world of entrepreneurship through the experience of Nicolás Parra, founder of Triko

“Triko is the world’s first application that combines all home services on demand, with its own social network.”

In the historical moment we live in, where every minute counts and everything happens in seconds, being able to manage your free time is a precious resource for everyone.

Therefore, ON-DEMAND services like Uber, Airbnb, or Rappi have been a revolution by allowing users to customize the services they receive whenever they need them.

However, there are certain aspects of our daily lives that cannot be easily personalized, such as keeping a home clean or hiring less demanded services.

This is where Triko App came into play.

Today we will be talking with Nicolás Parra, creator of Triko App, a service that provides on-demand home services.

Not only offering users the convenience of requesting help when they need it, but also giving workers the ability to decide the best times to work, be their own boss, and value their work.

Triko is a community that its creator compares to visiting a country, where users and collaborators have full control over the transactions and services they exchange.

Thus introducing help services to the on-demand service map that has already captivated millions of users worldwide.

The consolidation of this project was not easy; it took many years of experience, preparation, and a series of unfortunate events that led Nicolás to use his experience as pieces to assemble a puzzle that he now defines as his life mission.

But enough introduction, let’s listen to Nicolás share the process behind Triko and the reasons that make his project unique in the world!

3:32 I worked in Medellín with the vice president of a very large business group.

3:37 The responsibility was enormous… But many situations forced me to decide with my wife to leave the country and start from scratch.

4:20 Although we were successful here, I was doing well in the job, and I saw good results in the position, it turned out that it didn’t make me happy, something was missing. We decided to go to the United States.

5:31 We went to Denver, my wife pregnant, a baby, not knowing where to go.

6:23 Life gave me a good slap.

6:40 It was a blow to the ego, you get used to a status where I felt empowered. And it turns out that where I arrived, I was nothing.

7:32 I remember applying to over 200 interviews.

8:17 It seemed like everything was coming together. As a last resort, I decided to go to a company that evaluates you.

8:48 In short, they said, you are worth a lot, and that’s why you’re not getting a job.

When someone tells you: start from scratch, not even the resume can have that information, it’s very hard.

9:50 Three weeks after I decided to delete my resume, I got an interview at Bass Pro Shop.

11:20 I sat down with the store manager, and he said we are looking for a manager for the shoe department.

11:38 I had to lead the entire sales team.

12:10 When I work on something, whatever it is, I take it to heart.

12:40 I organized the entire warehouse, implemented an organization system.

13:12 When they saw my work, they started asking, who are you? What do you do? And the manager discovered my real resume on the internet.

13:42 When I turned on my phone, at 4:30, it was bombarded with messages. Run, your son fainted, he’s in the hospital!

I put myself in the shoes of all those people who work so hard and go through those needs. You really don’t understand them until you live it.

15:40 My son was admitted to the hospital at 2 PM, it was 2 AM, and they didn’t know what he had.

16:00 My newborn also got sick in the hospital.

17:10 At that moment, the situation was so cloudy that I didn’t see a way out.

18:45 I had to call work and say that I needed a few days to take care of my son.

19:24 They had already discovered who I was. They started calling from 6 AM to 11 PM.

20:20 I remember that on the night of December 8, I left crying from the frustration of not being able to help my wife.

22:08 It was like a magical thing because I was driving, and an idea didn’t come to you with such a degree of detail, which is a 2 and a half minute recording saying exactly what I wanted.

23:16 The next day, as soon as I woke up, I told my wife, love, I’m going to quit.

23:33 I felt it so sincerely that I said, this is my life purpose.

That’s when it hit me, and I started thinking, what was the use of all the previous experience? Unconsciously, I started using everything. And it was magical.

27:32 When there is such a big generational difference, it makes the ways of doing things so different, so clashing.

28:34 I was simply there, and that’s why I decided to leave.

The worst enemy of ourselves is ourselves.

30:30 The truth is, when I thought of the idea, I never imagined it would be so hard.

31:20 I started taking pieces from all my experience, but the hard part was how to share your vision and materialize the vision you have in your head so that others capture it just like you.

33:50 In the digital world, today there is one trend, tomorrow it is another. And you have to adapt the company at all times.

The most important thing is not to look for the smartest people with the best resume… It’s to look for the most reliable people who believe in your project.

39:05 For me, it was working every single day, and I forgot about life.

40:08: I learned the true meaning of success; the balance between three things: time with work, time with family, and personal time.

Self-motivation is extremely valuable.

43:23 When you are frustrated, and you keep thinking about the same thing, all you do is add fuel to the fire.

46:36 Triko is basically a community.

47:22 Triko is the first application that combines all home services on demand with its own social network.

48:41 Just like ordering a taxi,

49:15 Everyone you find on Triko is filtered for their legal issues and security.

50:45 Triko is like a country, and in that country, the government is me.

There are two types of visitors, the client and the collaborator, and if they want to be in my country, they have to comply with certain rules.

51:31 It is a community where I allow real-time hiring as a safe tool to make payments and hire someone.

But ultimately, the one providing the service is the collaborator.

What advice would I give to Nico from ten years ago? “Develop a taste for reading”

57:21 Being informed every day opens your mind to three thousand things.

58:08 Be afraid of comfort.
